The installation of Post 156 officers for Legion year 2025-2026 (July to July) was conducted by George Delaney, NCR Adjutant on July 4, 2025.

Commander

Andy Wolkstein is a USAF Veteran, retiring as an Aeromedical Evacuation Nurse (Flight Nurse) after 27 years of service. He is also retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) as a Health Systems Specialist, and is a Legion Paid-Up-For-Life (PUFL) member.

1st Vice Commander

Paul Turlington is a USA Veteran, serving on both active duty and in the Reserves from 1979-2003. He entered active duty in the from 1985 to 1991, serving as field artillery officer in the 101st Airborne Division. He branched transferred to Transportation and deployed during Operation Just Cause and the Gulf War from 1990 to 1991.

2nd Vice Commander

Marv Stocker is a USA Veteran. Commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps, he deployed with his unit in May 1966 to Vung Tau in the Republic of Vietnam. He served as Commander of the Camp Red Ball depot until he departed Vietnam in May 1967.

3rd Vice Commander

Len Leffner is a USA Veteran & 42-year American Legion Member. He served as an Infantry and Military Intelligence officer, retiring in 1994. He then served as a Baltimore County middle & high school social studies teacher until 2014. Len and his wife Ann enjoy spending time with their three adult children and grandchildren.

Adjutant

John Spain is a USA Veteran, joining the Reserves in 1983, then the National Guard in 1985. He served in Army Chemical, Cavalry, and the Medical Service Corps units supporting hospital, logistics and field units in multiple locations around the world. He retired from active service in 2017 after 34 total years of service.

Judge Advocate

Walt Chahanovich is a USA Veteran, serving from 1977-2011. After 9/11, he led the US Army Corps of Engineers Contingency Response Unit supporting Operations Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom. He is a licensed attorney in Oklahoma and a Senior Attorney with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Historian

Randy Bohn is a USN Veteran, serving from 1966-1991 as a Registered Nurse (BSN). During the Vietnam War, he had responsibilities for orienting newly arrived Navy Corpsmen straight out of boot camp prior to their deployment overseas. Randy is married to Carol, who is also a retired Navy Nurse and a member of AL Post 156.

Chaplain

Jonathan Branch is a USA Veteran. He was stationed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where he served as Head Nurse of the Coronary Care Unit. He later transferred to the Medical Intensive Care Unit, where he retired from the Army in 2001.  Jonathan continues to work as a staff nurse in the Cardiology Department at Walter Reed.

Sergeant-at-Arms

Bill Heit is a USA Veteran retired after 22 years active duty; retired from 12 years Civil Service; 6 years Baltimore Orioles Usher; Puppy Raiser for Hero Dogs (wounded Veterans) and Freedom Guide Dogs (for the blind); 21 years American Legion Post 156 of which 3 years were serving as the Adjutant.

Ed Hall is a USMC Veteran, retiring in 1995 after 24 years of service. Starting as an Infantry officer, he eventually transferred into the Signals Intelligence field, spending over 12 years in electronic communications and surveillance and direction-finding systems. Ed is a past Commander of Post 156.

Greg Jolissaint is a USA Veteran, spending over two decades in medical leadership positions for operational Army units, clinics, hospitals, and medical centers. He retired from the Medical Corps after 34 years of service. He has also served as a Howard County Commission on Veterans and Military Familes commissioner since 2016.

Bill Swain is a USMC Veteran where his military specialty was working in aviation armament equipment. He supported A-4 Skyhawks, A-6 Intruders, and EA-6B Prowlers, eventually transitioning to F/A-18A/B Hornet aircraft. Bill is also Commandant of Marine Corps League (MCL) Detachment 1084.
